Pana - Natural Panner 1.0

Pana is a sophisticated stereo tool designed for precise audio positioning, offering an alternative to traditional balance panning techniques.

Audio panning can be accomplished through various methods, with adjusting the volume on one channel being the most common approach, found in nearly all DAWs and mixing consoles. Another technique, known as the Haas method, involves adding a short delay to one channel, resulting in a fuller sound but potentially sounding unnatural. A more refined method employs a low pass filter on one channel, preserving audio energy on both channels while creating a sense of positioning, particularly effective for transient-rich sounds like drums and percussion.

Pana combines both delay and filtering methods for more natural audio positioning across a wide range of sounds. Its versatility and all-in-one plug-in design enhance the mixing experience. Additionally, Pana features a crossover filter to maintain centered bass frequencies, leaving the low end unaffected.

• Size - Adjusts micro delay times to simulate head-related size effects.
• Rolloff - Controls the steepness and frequency of the filter applied to the opposite channel when panning left or right.
• Pan knob - Sets the panning amount and displays output levels, acting as a macro control for Rolloff and Size parameters.
• Crossover - Adjusts the internal frequency splitter level to keep frequencies below the set value unprocessed.
• Stereo button - Enables quick mono checks when held.
• Pan lock - Locks the pan amount while browsing and loading presets.
• Correlation:
  • - All to the right (green): Indicates in-phase left and right signals.
  • - Middle: Creates a wide stereo image.
  • - All to the left (red): Highlights potential phase issues between left and right signals.

Pana functions as a standalone tool and as an AUv3 plug-in compatible with various AUv3 hosts such as Garageband, AUM, Cubasis, Beatmaker 3, Auria, among others.
